January 2007
Aloha. It was a busy month with both old and new friends arriving. We are finally finished with our projects to our house and to our rental unit.
This month we have had a couple of storms, a large forest fire and some high winds with gusts reaching close to sixty miles per hour. We have watched the news and have seen how cold it is on the mainland and... you know what were thinking.
- Cynthia and I on a Harley ride.
- Someone put a lot of effort into their mailbox.
- There are some beautiful beaches with no one on them. (if you know where to look)
- It is still early in the whale season so we are just starting to see them.
- Storm coming in over Kahoolawe and Molokini.
- Storms bring bright colors.
- Time to cut down these bananas.
- Another beautiful sunset.
- Early morning shower makes a interesting rainbow.
- The kitchen is ready for the crew to start installing the granite tops.
- Old tops off and new sink ready.
- New top down.
- New granite tops and appliances. We are now done with the house. (please)
- Kitchen finished.
- Artist, and friend, Bill Myrick holding up our new painting.
- The condo is about ready, this is the living room.
- Condo master bedroom.
- Condo kitchen.
- And dining area.
- It’s hard to see our kitty, Purrl, looking for bugs in the coconut tree.
- Our friend David came for a second visit with us and brought girlfriend Cheryl.
- We went to Maui Tropical Plantation for a tour. They have a great tram ride. Here a pond full of fish.
- Before.
- After.
- Big Cane Spider almost looks metallic gold on his back.
- Cynthia is holding flowers from the Jade vine.
- We have seen these vines growing up trees 50 feet and higher with flowers cascading down. Very beautiful.
- Shell Ginger. One of Cynthia’s favorites.
- Cynthia is standing next to a Giant Bird of Paradise.
- Making sure the tour guide has the right information.
- I different perspective of Molokini viewed from Kula area.
- We were to have met our new friends Eric and Barbara at the airport but their flight was delayed so we met them at the Fish House in Lahaina.
- We are with Eric and Barbara, Cheryl and David. Great place for a sunset dinner.
- David rented a Harley and we rode around the north end of the island.
- Here is the Blowhole on the north side of Maui.
- Jim and Cynthia.
- David and I doing my favorite beach thing.
- David and Cheryl both got tattoos, must be a Maui thing. Here is Cheryl’s.
- Here is David’s.
- New bunch of bananas are starting.
- A couple of new geckos by Frogman.
- And another was added to this group on the wall.
- Purrl and Asia don’t work too hard around here. Only light mouse duty.
- We had a pretty bad fire up above Kula that took days to control. This is day 2.
- The next morning the sun was rising over Haleakala through the smoke.
- Hannah says “what are you looking at”.
- The fire really flared up and a dry day with no wind didn’t help.
- A weather shift came in and helped the firefighters. With all the smoke in the air it made for an interesting and beautiful sunset.
- Smokey sunset.
- Then some rain. The fire is now out.
- The bananas are growing.
- Strong winds are coming up preceding more storms.
- We are totally enjoying it here, come see us.
Aloha for now, we look forward to hearing from you.
